1. Who we are

The Pausely app is made by NoviBytes SIA, registration number 50203555211, Latvia. We are responsible for the personal data described in this policy (the data controller under the GDPR). For any privacy question, email [email protected].

2. No account, no servers

Pausely works without an account. There is nothing to sign up for. NoviBytes runs no servers, and the app sends nothing to us.

3. What Pausely stores, and where

Pausely stores the following on your device, and in your personal iCloud when it is available:

  • Your nickname
  • Your sessions and their outcomes
  • Optional notes and trigger tags
  • Rings and badges
  • Your journal entries

Grounding Check-In and Things by Letter answers are never stored; they exist only while you type them.

iCloud sync is on by default and can be turned off in Pausely's Settings. The iCloud copy is kept in a private database in your own Apple Account, which we cannot access. If you switch iCloud accounts, your data follows the account, not the device.

4. What Pausely does not collect

  • Analytics, tracking or advertising of any kind
  • Advertising identifiers
  • Location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone
  • Apple Health data
  • Anything through third-party services, as there are none inside the app

5. Feedback emails

The Send feedback row in Settings opens your own mail app. Nothing is sent unless you send it. If you do, we receive your message, your email address and anything you attach.

  • We use it only to read and answer your message and to improve Pausely, never for marketing. Our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who write to us.
  • Sending feedback is optional. You never need to share health details. If you choose to, we use them only to reply, and we delete them whenever you ask.
  • Our email is handled by Apple's iCloud Mail.
  • We delete feedback emails once we are done with them, and at the latest two years after your last message.

6. Crash reports

The app itself sends us nothing. Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us, only if you have turned on Share With App Developers in your device's Settings, under Privacy & Security, then Analytics & Improvements. Apple shares these in a form that does not identify you. We use them only to fix problems.

7. Apple, the only other company involved

Apple stores your Pausely data in your own iCloud, holds our email in iCloud Mail, and runs the App Store. Apple protects this data under its own privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/. We do not sell your data or share it with anyone else.

8. Purchases

Pausely Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your card or bank details. For a refund, use Apple's own process. Buying Pro sends nothing about you to us.

9. Deleting your data

Delete All Data in Pausely's Settings removes everything from your device, and from your iCloud when sync is on and iCloud is available. There is no account to close.

  • With sync off, copies saved to iCloud earlier stay there.
  • Deleting the app removes its data from your device but not from iCloud. To remove the iCloud copies too, use Delete All Data with sync on before you delete the app. You can also remove Pausely's iCloud data in your device's iCloud storage settings, without the app.

10. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (feedback emails), ask us to correct or delete it, ask us to limit how we use it, or object to our use of it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within one month.

Your data inside Pausely never reaches us, so you manage it yourself in the app.

You can also complain to Latvia's data protection authority, the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija), www.dvi.gov.lv, or to the authority in the country where you live.

11. Children

Pausely is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly receive data from children under 13. If a child under 13 has emailed us, contact us and we will delete it.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we update the date at the top. The current version is always at https://novibytes.com/pausely/privacy-policy/.
